Cool,
If anybody reading this has an engine that I might want, feel free to email me at robk80@rocketmail.com. I would really like to get an engine for my car soon, if possible one that has less than 120,000 miles. Thank you!1988 Grand Prix - project

just save your money & find yourself a TGP engine-they can be found for $200-300, the swap in is pretty simple as far as swaps go & then with some badging ull have a TGP-only legit TGP guys could call your bluff then, & when some little prick with a honda civic wants to ask you what you have you can tell em-ever seen a TGP before?

And some more to chew on... Don't listen to anything no_doz is recommending. Seriously, this guy wants a simple upgrade for a daily driver and you keep telling him to do way more than he is looking for. If you haven't noticed, he really doesn't want to spend much money.-Brad-

if you go to a junk yard, the ones arround here i know anyhow... you could get a 0 mile motor for the same price as a million mile motor. they just sell the parts based on what they are, not what theyve been through. the fender off the 2006 caddilac will cost just as much as the fender off the 1983 Toyota Corolla... i dont know why. lol
one thing to remember when ur there is that its a JUNK YARD. if you dont buy it and no one else does in a week or so, its going to get crushed, shredded or melted down. deals are easy to come by there. up here, we can get ANY motor from any junkyard car for $150. and some weekends are as much as 50% off. so $75 for a complete engine, no core charge. if it has a turbo or supercharger its $75 more i think... (before any discounts come in) so $225 for a turbo 3.1 from a TGP... if you could find one.
hey, why hasnt anyone suggested a 2.4 Quad Cam?? doesnt that motor put out 200hp?? and four banger instead of 6.... i dunno. just a thought, those are really cool motors too and LOTS of room to work on.

Olds Cutlass 442 (fwd ones), Grand Ams, J bodies? (Sunbird, Cavalier). Not 100% on the j-bodies though. I would bet I am missing some as well. A Quad 4 would be more money than you want to spend. I know bellhousings are different, so that brings the transmission back into the playing field getting swapped out. Then you would have to figure the wiring as well. I would stick with the plan of 2.8, 3.1, 3x00 to keep things simple since your tranny would work, and wiring harnesses would be pretty close.-60v6's 2nd Jon M.

LOTS lol im gonna forget some here i know, but some W bodies, it came in cavaliers sunfires, grand ams, aleros, cutlass calais, berettas, ummmm shit i know theres more and someone is gonna laugh at me for missing them, but it came in a TON of cars, but i dont know if i have the power output correct. it might be like 170 or something. i know its impressive for a four banger.

190HP from a stock 4 banger, no problem!! lol Honda Civic watch out, that thing would rock the shit out of a cavalier!! a car that light with a motor like that, on a turbo too! i say let er rip with that. theyre cheap and readily available. start slow and build up as you go. plus who else has one??

yeah, but if you can get a whole car with one in it, you have the wiring harness and transmission already! and i bet you could find a rear ender that someone just wanted to strip their stereo out of after wrecking and buy the damn thing as whole as it gets for dirt cheap!
according to my repair manual there were some W bodies with the Quad 4. so the parts should be there for it somewhere. lol it might be a puzzle. but thats the answer im sticking with! haha other than that, just look for a cheap minivan with a good motor in it.

Half that list puts him into doing an OBD2 swap though. I won't laugh at you for your original list, mine was even shorter Also if he was serious about that route, I would go with a W body only Quad 4 car to keep it simple. Then again, I bet a Quad 4 W body is more rare than my car...-60v6's 2nd Jon M.

I'm not even certain what body a Toronado is (but I do know it's not a W-body). You *could* make it run, but if you aren't comfy with something as simple as installing a car stereo, rewiring a fuel injected engine is going to scare the crap out of you.-60v6's 2nd Jon M.
