throw in some beer, everyone loves beer.
Edit: Sounds like a good choice of motor. i found a flood salvage TGP for $1,200 on that ride safely site. no body damage, but the interior was trash and the motor could definitley use a good scrubbing (if it even works or what?? i bet it isnt good for a turbo to suck water in, or be flooded with water for that matter. but could you imagine, make sure it rotates, change the oil after making sure the pistons are dry and putting new plugs and shit in and starting that bitch up?? lol think it would go? hahaha how much boost do you get off a rusty impeller?

This 3.1 is only $150 w/tranny. I don't need the tranny so I'm hoping I can get this for arround $75-85.

I would rather see you with a 3100 or 3400 in there myself, but if you can't find one in your price range, then you can't find one in your price range :/

Yah, That's what I thought. Plus, even with 146,000 miles, it's a far cry from the 250,000 that my Grand Prix has on it.

Ok, I'll scrap that Idea.
Good thing though, I've been looking on my local Craigslist, and I just found a '94 Chevy Corsica with a 3.1 with only 146,000 miles.

lol it also depends on whats wrong with the motor too... is the car body wrecked or what? if the body is good its generally a good thought that the motor is going to be fawked, or the trans or something horrible like that. and the 3800 is gonna get your ass kicked off this site i bet. lol

I'm not even certain what body a Toronado is (but I do know it's not a W-body). You *could* make it run, but if you aren't comfy with something as simple as installing a car stereo, rewiring a fuel injected engine is going to scare the crap out of you.

Ok, actually, I just found a wrecked '92 Olds Toronado. It has a 3800 with 97,000 miles. The only problem is that it doesn't have all the wires. If I can find some wires for it, would it run?

Half that list puts him into doing an OBD2 swap though. I won't laugh at you for your original list, mine was even shorter Also if he was serious about that route, I would go with a W body only Quad 4 car to keep it simple. Then again, I bet a Quad 4 W body is more rare than my car...

yeah, but if you can get a whole car with one in it, you have the wiring harness and transmission already! and i bet you could find a rear ender that someone just wanted to strip their stereo out of after wrecking and buy the damn thing as whole as it gets for dirt cheap!
according to my repair manual there were some W bodies with the Quad 4. so the parts should be there for it somewhere. lol it might be a puzzle. but thats the answer im sticking with! haha other than that, just look for a cheap minivan with a good motor in it.

LOTS lol im gonna forget some here i know, but some W bodies, it came in cavaliers sunfires, grand ams, aleros, cutlass calais, berettas, ummmm shit i know theres more and someone is gonna laugh at me for missing them, but it came in a TON of cars, but i dont know if i have the power output correct. it might be like 170 or something. i know its impressive for a four banger.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GM_Quad-4_engine
190HP from a stock 4 banger, no problem!! lol Honda Civic watch out, that thing would rock the shit out of a cavalier!! a car that light with a motor like that, on a turbo too! i say let er rip with that. theyre cheap and readily available. start slow and build up as you go. plus who else has one??

Olds Cutlass 442 (fwd ones), Grand Ams, J bodies? (Sunbird, Cavalier). Not 100% on the j-bodies though. I would bet I am missing some as well. A Quad 4 would be more money than you want to spend. I know bellhousings are different, so that brings the transmission back into the playing field getting swapped out. Then you would have to figure the wiring as well. I would stick with the plan of 2.8, 3.1, 3x00 to keep things simple since your tranny would work, and wiring harnesses would be pretty close.

Hey thanks,
Yah, I've wondered about four bangers too. I've seen a lot of Grand Am's on the area Craigslists. Some of them are as low as $200. By the way, what cars did the 2.4 Quad Cam come in?
