  • G6 3900 engine mounting pics

Anyone have photos? I can't find jack.

I don't want pics of W body or the van mounting. That uses upper dogbones to the radiator support, which means it has a bottom mount on the cradle.

The G6 photos looks like no upper dog bones. So I'm guessing it mounts like the L and older N bodies, with an upper/side mount on the timing cover, and a lower dogbone torque strut.... Cause you sure can't have both on the top or both on the bottom, that wouldn't stop the engine from rocking at all.....

I want photos of the timing cover mainly and how the mount bolts to it...

Well, found the Buick Lucerne has the side mounting... of all things I figured a car would have it. Looks like the Alt is in a different spot but should work for a car swap:

      Compare with the impala one:

The buick is easier to make up a mount that would bolt to the timing cover portion, then bolt to the side mount found in the 92-98 N bodies and 92-96 L bodies........

I'd really like to see one of these behind a 282 with a turbo on it in a Z26 or something... That's my idea, but that probably won't happen for me at least not in the near future for sure... Hell even one with long tubes and a hot cam and high compression LS1 pistons would be nice...

EDIT: looks like that piece bolts up to the cover separately... Just need to re-route the belt.

other than the coolness factor of having a 3900, the LX9 is a much better and easier swap.

The less crap to deal with the better, IMO.

At first people said that the 3400 is less crap to deal with than the 3500...

Run the 3500 VVT upper, route the cooling lines and do the fuel line setup like Joseph did, lock the cam and regrind it, or go to a 3x00 gen3 cam, crank trigger and you're there..

It's more displacement, has option of variable intake (meh to the VVT)... I only wonder what one of these 3900's with a rowdy cam, long tubes and high compression would do... Basically what you did to your 3500....

I wonder what has been done to these LZ9's now that the current ones make 20 less HP but do not have E85 or DoD on them..

Kind of off topic, that serp belt looks friggin ridiculous. 3 idler pulleys and the tensioner... Ouch.

What makes it rev quicker? All the belt pulleys? LOL

it wouldn't make it rev faster, but they would carry inertia, so you would be able to spin up faster from a upshift...

nevermind, i guess it would allow you to rev faster
