  • 3.4 "S" code engine.... how do you tell?

I am trying to purcase my main and rod bearings for my 3.4 build and have run into another snag. There are apparently two 3.4 engines that came in the Camaro. They are differentiated by an "s" code in the VIN and get different Main Bearing sets. Since I don't have the donor car.... I don't know which one I have. Any tips on telling the difference?

two 3.4s? there was only one that ever went into a camaro, and that is the S code.

Thanks for the confirmation! Wiki told me the exact same thing but I wanted to be sure. All of the parts stores I have been to had told me they list two 3.4 engines for the Camaro but I don't know why since the other version appears to be a FWD 3400...

never trust the parts store... advance wanted to sell me a crank sensor because the starter solenoid wouldn't engage on the GP...
