26986 Cosmetic issue valve springs

I was just randomly searching ebay and came across these comp cams valve springs.

They are listed as having cosmetic issues and are fairly cheap.

Does anyone see how their could be a problem with them? I would just buy from wot-tech but money is pretty tight right now and I would like to save some money if possible.

Surface flaws turn into cracks. Don't buy them.

Surface flaw and surface finish is a different thing... if they are simply referring to the material that coats the exterior of the spring to give them that golden type look then as long as there are no gouges or something like that then they may be fine... Also its a set of 16... how many have flaws?

I don't take chances on ebay anymore. People sell their garbage on there. Why isn't that set sealed?

Exactly if that seller wont use them then just send them back. He must have come across them somehow and figured some sucker on E-Bay might buy them.

you can buy 12 new 26986's from Summit for $135.. or a set of 12 26915's for the same price. At least you'll have a guarantee that they'll work.

Summit sells good parts but they get the hook up because they will take the B stock as well. I don't deal with summit for any parts and I check everything I ship short of test fitting/installing the parts.
