  • 3400/3500 FIERO 7730 Swap

ok im back again, my 3400 is mounted to the tranny and on the cradle, ready to go in. the 7730 is 90% wired into the fiero harness. my problem right now is figuring out what some of the wires and sensors on the 3400 are and where they go on the 7730. has anyone done a dis ignition to 7730 before? i have the sinister performance pin out sheet but im still a litle lost with the dis part. another question is what are these 3 sensors/connectors? the 3 wire one coming from behind the damper, the 2 twisted wires from the right side of the block (yellow and purple), and the other 3 wires that come out of the top of the block by the ps pulley.

3 wires behind the crank is the 24x crank position sensor - you do not need this.
2 twisted wires is the 7x crank position sensor - this plugs into the ICM.
3 wires coming out of the top of the block is the cam poisiton sensor - you do not need this.

thanks brad, and ryan got back to me about the dis setup, so i should have this thing running in a week. i just need a tune for it. does anyone have a 3400 running on a 7730 that would be willing to let me use your tune for a base to get it running? i need to take some data logs but ryan has never made a tune for this setup.

I don't want to dilute this thread but.....

I am working on a similar swap using a 3.4 Camaro block, dished pistons, and a 3400 top end. I plan on using the DIS and a 7730 PCM as well backed by a 4T60. Would I use the same sensors and tune as mr.rogers is using? If so, this will simplify my build as I was getting ready to move the harmonic balancer reluctor sensor over to the Fiero timing cover....

Contact Ben (I think) from the WOT store on this site. He has a 3400 5 speed on 7730 setup for sale. You are in Edmonton? I am in Lethbridge doing the same swap! Cool.

my fiero is a 4 spd but that would be really close to what i need, im deleting as much as i can, egr, evap, etc. all i want is the neccesities. what do you mean by setup? all im looking for is a .bin file to get a 3400 running on a 7730.

Well... not exactly the same but close. I myself am a retard when it comes to tunning and wiring. That's why I bought my harness instead! I think it is neat haveing someone doing a similar swap as me that close. There are not many Fieros around here, let alone ones with 3400's

so ben has a tune for your car? and a complete plug and play harness? if i hadn't spent 10 hours repinning my computer and stripping the 3400 harness and figuring out what each wire does, i would just buy one too, but now i know how it all works. could i use your tune to get me moving? or will a 93 3.1 5spd std run my car to atleast get a few data logs?

Ben only sells the chip for the 7730. I didn't buy his though. If I were you I would finnish with what you have, the hard part is done. The 3.1 tune will run the car good enough to get you going at first.

way too much advance and it will run rich in low rpm and lean up top...

Mr. Rodgers: what codemask are you planning on running? i can make you a starter bin fairly quickly.

im not sure what codemask to use, this will be my first custom tune. i think ill be buying the autoprom from moates so i can burn my own chips and datalog. what options do i have for codemasks? and i would really appreciate a starter tune to get me rolling rob.

                      setup:
3400 with slightly ported 3500 heads and lim, 3400 intake and tb for now.
no egr, no evap, no emmissions.
                      4sp standard.
                      need to know anything else?

                        options for codemasks:

                        3E, 46, 55, 6D, 88, 89, 8D, 8F, A1....
there's also the possibility of using DF(since a 16149396 is basicly a 1227727/1227730 with extra RAM for tranny control), but i wouldn't recommend it, since i'm not sure if its feasable. its really late, do you already have it(ECM) wired?

i'll look over everything in the morning..

the ecm is pinned to the fiero harness but the wires are all cut. i have to join them to the 3400 harness i made for the tps, iac, iat, alt etc. and the wires coming from the c500 connector need to get joined to the starter and the dis setup. hopefully tonight

so long as you know where to hook up the wiring into the correct pin, then i have no more concerns. but i do need to know what codemask you're using. and preferably knowing what the BCC of the original chip was...

actually you need to know what codemask you're using before you start connecting wires... different codemasks use different pinouts...
