Few simple Q's

Does anyone know where I could find a vacuum-hose diagram for a '89 Camaro w/ a 2.8L? I need to replace all the hoses but don't want the hassle of measuring each piece.

Also, will heads from a 3.1L fit a bored-out 2.8L? Would it help breathing any? Would the 2.8's intake fit the new heads or would i need the 3.1's intake?

that depends on what you mean by 3.1: iron head or aluminum head? the iron head 3.1 is the same as a iron head 2.8. the 3.1 however does flow a lot better.

So the 3.1 aluminum head will fit and improve the flow?

they will bolt on, i'm not sure if you HAVE to use the aluminum intake, but it would be a good idea.

but consider this: better than the 3.1 heads and intakes are the 3100 heads and intakes, and even better than those are the 2000-up 3100 and 3400 heads and intakes, and even better than those are the 3500 heads/intakes.

basicly, you're grabbing the second worst flowing heads/intakes. i know you can't fit the 3500 heads on a 2.8, but the 2000-up 3100/3400 heads will bolt on after some modifications, i'm not sure about the Lower Intake, and then the 3500 Upper. it can all work, and i think it will bump the compression up quite a bit too, unless you use the FWD/aluminum head pistons.

i'm sure somebody else will verify/disprove what i said.

the easier route might just be to swap the motor, depends on what you're willing to spend/what experience you have

Well as far as experience; I have little. If the parts are direct bolt-on I can handle it. Otherwise I'm kinda lost.

So would the pre-2000 3100 heads and intakes bolt right up, or would they need modification? If they do, what kind? Would the computer from the 2.8 still work?

And the 3.1 heads... could they be ported and have performance similar to the 3100? And if they were, would the 2.8 computer still handle it?

Sorry about all the questions. Like I said, I am inexperienced, especially with v-6s. I just wanna use the 2.8 cause its one of the smallest engines put in the Camaro ever. I'd love to see the look on other peoples faces when they find out their SB Chevy just got smoked by a 2.8! Haha!
