Why are you wanting to revese it on a Fiero? In a Fiero, everything will work fine just the way it came out of the FWD car

I flipped the manifolds around on mine, but am using a RWD timing cover...

To probably cut cost and piping down for a intercooled TC setup.

Oh, it has something to do with making a little room for this:

If it won't work out backwards, there are other options but that would make it the best for packaging.

Still should be plenty of room for a turbo with the TB facing the bell housing side. My neighbor's 327 powered Fiero has enough room there even.

And even still, there isn't as much room as you might think. Some location options are off the table for various reasons, most of them clearance.

Dunno, I have seen it done many times. Joseph Upson has 2 turbos in there with his 3900...

                    Alxsmt: Okay, thanks much.
OBTW, the reason I asked for a pic from that angle is so that I can take one from the same angle of the Gen II that's in my Fiero now and match the pics up in PS. From that angle I'll have a pretty clear idea if there will be any strut tower problems.
I almost broke down and went to the JY to pull a GEN III top end today but I don't like working in 32* temps. Call me a wuss I guess.

ForcedFirebird, believe me, I know all about fitting turbos where they didn't come:

I've seen a lot of Fiero turbo setups, I know that a turbo will go in the engine bay, there's no need to post proof.
Again, I said this would be the best way for packaging, for my planned setup, not the only way.

Oh, and I forgot; The much less important reason is that the "3100 SFI" would then face the right way in a Fiero, heh.

Sorry for being an asshat. Nice turdgen you got there

I just finished wedling a header that puts a turbo in that same exact position, not an easy chore.

If you don't have a pic by tom evening, I can get you one when I'm at the shop.

                          No problem, and thanks.

Are you talking about the Camaro? If so, which turbo position? There are two.

Great, everyone get me pics, the more the better!

Hey, thanks again! Worse than that is that I have an '88 which has even more intrusive strut towers (another reason for less turbo room).

However... no more pics are needed, I made it to the junkyard today and pulled a late Gen III top end. Well, I have to go back tomorrow to snag the heads and a few minor pieces because I ran out of time, but the intake/TB assembly are now mine. Woohoo!
There is officially no way that the throttlebody would clear the (at least '88 ) strut tower with the plenum simply reversed. The only way that could work is if an adapter elbow was made, relocating the TB 90 degrees to face the front of the car, and even that would be tight, and then there's still the extra accessory mods required. I'm definitely not going to mess with all of that, the Gen III top end should give me the extra clearance I need even facing the proper way.

                              I don't think I've shown this, but here's what I've been doing:

The TGP (Gen II) top end not only flows much worse, but the TB linkage in that setup interferes perfectly with my desired turbo placement. It hovers around the back of the engine, whereas the Gen III TB is much closer to the front of the engine and the linkage is on the opposite side of the TB. I'll lose the cool points from the (backwards) "3.1 INTERCOOLED TURBO", but waaah. I'll live. A tad lower compression, more power, and a big honkin' turbo sitting in view will more than make up for it!

Could always put a 3500 upper on there, there's no writing
