Gen 1 Iron Head vs. 3x00 Alum Head
Do the exhaust manifold bolt patterns for the gen 1 iron heads and the gen 3 aluminum line up or is there a significant difference? I know the gen 2 and 3 are compatible but I didnt' know about gen 1...

port spacing is the same but the bolt pattern is wider top to bottom on the aluminium heads, only by 1/16" or so though. I used iron head flanges for some 3400 headers a few years ago and they worked fine after i reamed out the holes a bit. -
So all you had to do was elongate the holes and they worked? If it was only 1/16 then I may be able to do what I want with some headers but I wasn't sure...sigpic

Just open up the holes using a gasket to make sure they are centered...
