Looking for info about the 3500 engine. Basically, what years and models should I be looking for. I've herd these engines have a forged steel crank, and some kind of VVT thing thats suppose to advance and retard the cam on the fly. If so, what models and years had this engine installed in them. And also, do these have the same bell housing bolt pattern as the rest of the 60* V6's so I can use my 5-speed?

Sent you a private message and yes it has the same bellhousing pattern as the previous 60 degree motors.

If someone knows more than I do, I'd like to hear this. I've been reading around and found that the non VVT engine has a bore of 3.7" and a stroke of 3.31". Then I found that the 3500 with the VVT has a bore of 3.9" and a stroke of 2.99"?? Is this true??

Yes that is true. The 3500 VVT is a destroked 3900.

how hard would it be to drop one of those in a 1995 grand am gt?? it has a 3100 L82/4t60e trans in it. would it bolt up to the 4t60e? what all would be needed to pull a swap like that off? custom mounts needed? thnx

I dont have this motor yet, but it sounds like the tranny should bolt on if it uses the same bell housing as the older 60* motors. I was more interested in the VVT thing, but that might not work for what I'm after.

my 3500 came from a 06 malibu. mostly because that car doesnt have a pulley system PSP. its electric. mine is also the non-vvt. it is the LX9.
ENGINE HAS INTERNAL DAMAGE. THIS MOTOR WILL BE TAKEN OUT OF THE FIERO AND REPAIRED IN TIME. UNTIL THEN, A L67 WILL RESIDE IN ITS PLACE

87 fiero gt 5spd 3500, 1280 cam and PR, ls6 valve springs, port and polished heads, ported lim, ported uim, 4.3 70mm tb, ported trueleo headers and y pipe, 2.5 inch ex, flowtech muff, 7730 ecm, moates.net APU1, self tuning *learning* (GOT FROM MY BROTHER, divorce reasons.)

get the non VVT 3500. 2004-2006 Malibu's had them (and a few other cars). It's pretty much a direct swap for your 3100. You'll need an external crank trigger and some other random things though.

I'd also suggest swapping to the computer from a newer GAGT so you can go to OBD2 and propperly tune the engine.
