  • Fuel rail pressure 0 psi over night

    for a 2.8 MFI

Where most likely would the fuel leak from? injectors?

    What should the pressure be?

i found a loose red color wire where it was supposed to be use to test the fuel pump. connected it to 12 volts and I hear the pump pressurizing the fuel rail.

someone told me the fuel pressure regulator is faulty.
    can someone chime in?

Do a vacuum check on the regulator. It could be draining back to the tank. My new pump has a bad check valve and I have to prime it to get fuel in the rail.

so a good regulator will prevent the fuel from draining back into the gas tank?

not if you have a bad checkvalve in your fuel pump. Then it will allow it to drain back in. If you have a stuck injector, it will flood a cylinder and that should be noticable on startup.

how would i know if i got a stuck injector? looks more like a bad check valve but why would it cause an engine code 54 to appear?

You didnt say anything about engine codes. Fuel pump low voltage circuit. That has nothing to do with a checkvalve or a regulator. You have a battery, ground, or wiring issue for that most likely.

in my other post (link below) I have a hard start issue and have this code 54.

a member mentioned it was the oil pressure switch giving power to the pump. I check my switch and it is only one terminal so that does not apply.
I jump this red wire around the fuel pump relay and it turn on the fuel pump.
I replaced the fuel pump relay for a new one from the autoparts to eliminate that as a problem.

same here, i wouldnt expect anything less from a gas tank with 204,000 miles I have to prime, keycycle, pump up the rail and system, it takes 4x more to pump up the system since the nitrous install, alot more volume to fill. i think theres a bad valve on my pump or tank, i did replace the pump though with a L67 delco one that works, excellent!

battery is new got it from costco this october, all grounds verified and good, wiring is good too.

Only thing left is the fuel pump?
