  • Too make a sleeper or not....

So now that I have put my first mod on the Cutty (sway bars) now I want more. Of course who doesn't though. Now, I have come to a crossroad. Do I turn my car into a sleeper by over the next few years slowly digging into the engine and really doing some major improvements or do I just keep it as it is and find another 60 degree V6 to play with? Now, I know my Olds is not the coolest looking car but I thought down the road I could always have it painted a metallic black, maybe add a body kit found on the Internationals or such.

I'm leaning more towards modding it since it holds a lot of sentimental value to me and it's always been low mileage and reliable.

I was daydreaming today wondering what a 3400 Upper & Lower intake, performance heads, and performance cam would get me at the flywheel? Anyone have a guess?

My next mod regardless is a Hooker Aerochamber muffler *** Thanks SuperDave ***

If you like the looks of the car go for it. If not and you'd rather just drive it with the low mileage motor and get something more sporty to build up, then do that. I know sometimes I wish I had either a beater so I could make my car fast, or a cleaner beretta in Z26 trim to build up. Not that mine isn't clean it's just not mint as I'd like it.

Well, I like the style to a point. I would like it to look kind of like this eventually sans the rear bumper skirt and spoiler

I was also sifting through A-Body.net and there was mention that performance underdrive pulleys were available for the 3100 engine. Is this a farce?

If you like the car, I say keep it. As far as the UDP's go, I know MRZ makes them.

        Crank UDP.

        Alt pulley.

A new belt should run you about $20-25 bucks for a really nice one.

I like the car for it's reliability and safety but it needs more power and improved looks.

How much would those pulley's yield offhand?

If i had to guess, I would say about 5-6 HP at the crank.
