Have a 94 buick century 3.1 V6 with a blown head gasket. Don't have the motor torn down yet. My question is there easy way to find out if the heads on my car have the roller rockers or the mechanical ? Is there casting #'s or through my Vin ? thanks for any help! y

94 will have the ball/pivot rockers, but you can look through the oil fill cap and see. Only 96 had started to use the roller fulcrum.
you can put on heads that have roller rockers too btw, and go to large port top end if that's what youre thinking. A few issues with the intakes such as EGr adapter etc but thats easy.
It's probably just the lower intake gasket that's leaking unless the car was severely overheated and is burning coolant out the exhaust.sigpic New 2010 project (click image)

Thanks for the info. Just lookin to get this car back on the road for my niece. Local guy had a set of heads that had been redone for $150.00 said they were out of 94 Olds Ciera if I had the orig. heads redone I'd have approx. $250.00. My niece drove the car a good distance with the car runnin hot. but, it doesn't seem to have any coolant out the exhaust.

1994 is an iffy year, that was the changeover from the Gen 2 engine to the Gen 3.
the easiest way to tell the diff is to look at the exhaust ports, the 3100 gen 3 has a D shape to them, the old Gen2 3.1 heads have a round port.

Hmm, yeah make sure they are both the same kind of head as what you had before.sigpic New 2010 project (click image)
