What kind of clearance are we talking?

You can grind springs only a slight bit. Just be sure to keep them cold so you don't ruin the steel.

not much at all, just enough to make a slip (not press) fit over the stock seat/seal, i have the grinding bits on order from manley, they use them themselves...just going to check them out

Will they fit the LS1 seats better? Maybe go that route instead, like we do for the yellow springs?

How did the spring get that close to the seals? I'm not saying to use the shims, but the LS1 seats have a raised center to hold the spring still.

the spring didnt get close, they just came off for no reason...i was running the LS6 springs and the comp LS .060 seats with some 2.2l seals like it shows on the one thread, but it just didnt work out for me...and i dont like the idea of just using shims either...no ID locator

Odd. They don't see to come off in the intended application , and the only trouble I have heard of is from the seat not having a locator (shims).

                What year heads?

i used both 02 and 03 heads...you actually could use the stock seat on the LS spring i think, just use a vice and pop them in, but i went with the hardened steel seats from comp...i had 2 or 3 come off and a few were working their way off...in no particular order

LSx springs don't fit over the stock seats, maybe with a BFH

                    Or am I wrong?

no i popped them in with a press, just put the seat on the end, and run the vice down...they popped right in...but i didnt like how they fit, so i got the lsx seats
