  • A few 3.1l questions

Im putting my 3.1l back together that im swapping into a fiero and before i continue i wanted to check on some things. My first question is will i have any problems if i block off the vaccum ports to the throttle body? Im deleting the egr which is what one of those ports goes to but im not sure what the other 3 are for.

Next i was wondering if the exhaust manifolds in this picture are the right ones for the 3.1l mpfi. Im kind of torn on weather they are or not because they do fit but seem to look different from others ive seen.

I was also wondering if anyone had any tips on plugging this fitting that was once used for a turbo oil line of some sort.

Finally my oil dipstick tube can come right out of the block because it isnt sucured right, how should i fix this. Any help would be great, thanks.

those exhaust manifolds are from a gen3 engine and will perform slightly better than the old 3.1 manifolds.

for that oil fitting, i'd clamp on a piece of hose, then run a bolt into the other end and clamp that.

the dipstick usually has a flange that bolts to the heads...

For the EGR delete, you can get a newer throttle body that does not have the vacuum port (it has 3 instead of 4). The 4th one is still there, but if you look into it, it is plugged.

Here is a pic of the ports on my 1990 Grand Prix. You can see that 3 are open, and 1 is plugged. If you only need to delete that 1 port, then this might be the easiest way to do it.

That sounds like a good idea. Any idea what the other 3 ports are for? Since its going into a fiero im not sure if ill need them all or not.

Wouldnt make 5 vaccum ports? Theres only 4 counting the blocked one on yours?

I know the fuel pressure regulator is T'ed in. I think it is shared with the MAP. I am not sure about the interior vents one. The IAC is by itself.

I will try to get out to the car to check this stuff out.
