  • what kind of gas mileage are you guys getting?

im just curious as to how much everyones gas mileage is with their given vehicle-motor-modifications-and (if known) weight. every 3.1 lumina ive had has gotten high 20's for mileage with auto trans-my 3.1 ironhead firebird tho had something wrong with it & got like 15 highway-my buddies 2.8 manual 2d sonoma got at or close to 30mpg highway as well as my 96 lumina did if you ran it nice-which impresses the hell out of me-my current 4 banger 1.8 only gets me 28-but it is in need of a minor tuneup & thats with a 4x4 wagon :P

My best when fully modded (Headers, 3500 top end, 65 mm tb, Borla exhaust and tune) was close to 33 MPG on the highway.

Now the car is back to stock and I average about 26 MPG with a mix of city and highway driving.

I am starting to think that the restrictive down pipe might be an area where gas mileage can be gained.

I got 31.9 mpg in my wifes '93 Lumina 3.1 on a recent road trip (around 70 mph average speed), and she gets slightly better than that. It's all stock except a K&N air filter, no cat, Z34 style duals. My '93 Corsica 3.1 is averaging around 22 mpg combined with my 18 yr. old daughter at the wheel. Hey Dave, thats awesome mileage, hopefully I'll be able to squeeze close to that out of my hybrid. It's a straight shot down a four lane highway 8.5 miles to work everyday and it would be a lot more fun in the Beretta than driving my truck to work. LOL

before my car took a dump, i got just over 33 mpgs at an average of 60 - 70 mph. pulling steep mountains. constant up and down.

3.1/3400 hybrid. slightly larger then stock cam, stock everything else. 5 speed. and ALOT of shit packed up in my car, system, full tank of gas, blah blah. went exactly 101.xx miles on 3.021 or something gallons of gas.

gfs z gets around 30 mpg highway, stock z24, 3.1, auto, in DIRE need of a tune up. bad cts, running on about 5 cyls, and the bolt holding the intake runner above #6 is broke, with about 1/4 inch gap there. you can feel it sucking if you put your finger down there. lol.

I just filled up today and I am averaging just slightly under 22 mpg combined. Everything is stock except for a K&N airfilter. I would say that 70% of my driving would be classified under city. With highway travel I know I was getting very close to 31 mpg.

I've been babying the car a lot lately. I was getting 20 around town but now I'm getting 21 almost 22 MPG, but on the highway going to Michigan this past year I got 34 MPG outta 2 tanks, 32 outta one and 29 with the first tank in an overloaded car going up mountains in PA.

I laugh at the Focus and Versa commericals (and others like it)

I got 18.something last all city with ac and stomping it every chance I had. This tank I think I will go easy and see what I get, but its a lot of stop and go short runs. My moms 97 tore-ass just got 13mpg mixed with easy driving LOL
