  • coolant temp gauge

i have 2 temp sensors i need to run stock one so my fan turns on when it needs to and an aftermarket one for my digital temp gauge. my question is can i drill both 3500 heads? im thinking about putting them in the location that is stated on domesticcrew.com (2.8 location) but on each head

does any1 see a problem with that? im gonna look at a bunch of pics to make sure nothing goes in that area...

so drivers side corner on the head closest to the firewall and pass side corner on the radiator side

Yea you can do that. You could also drill into the LIM watter passages as well.

      Water has one T... lol

You can put a sensor back where the stock 3400 one was on a 3500 LIM... and REMEMBER there are already two holes in the sides of the heads on 3500's one has a alan bolt in it plugging it, and the other is supposed to have the factory two pin temp sensor for the 3500... I had my 3400 sensor modified to fit there, but I'm sure you can drill those holes out and re-tap them to fit the sensors you need.

See where my sensor is, thats a stock 3500 location, back head on trans side, front head next to waterpump... that may not fit tho, unless your other gauge is a smaller sensor.

See the alan bolt in the top righ hand of this pic... thats where the other stock hole is.

Thats why he asked why it says both...
I assume it does becuase its the same casting as the large bore 3.1's so they just bore them out for a 3.4

only the 3.5 has its own new casting.

Oh, so the 2000+ 3100's have the same block casting as a 3400 but not bored as much? Interesting.
