  • Plenum paint color

white so you can see in easy, black so it'll never show dirt, or metalic silver because...i dont know why... what color would you paint UIM and LIM, valve covers, etc.
I have to do this first thing tommorow before begining my teardown. I'd also like to know what temp the paint will be up against and if I need a high temp paint... i dont know much about paint, except that if you inhale it your worries pretty much disapate, and ya cant spell big wordz so good no more'n'stuff.

Shouldn't need high temp paint for those. I like aluminum colored but im easy to please when it comes to aethetics.

im tempted to go white so the visibility is good... but it will get dirty, and an engine shampoo might then f%&k up the paint?

White doesn't look good IMO. Prep is most important for manifolds. They need to be baked to get the oil out of the pores.

Silver or black. Black seems to be overdone now-days though unless you do something special like how I did mine.

My black car shows dirt really easy, so I can't agree with the comment: "black so it'll never show dirt". The first week I had the 91, I washed it every time I saw dirt/dust on it. That amounted to a whopping 5 washes the first week I pwn3d it :P

I did mine in kind of a gunmetalish color...

i used hi-temp primer, then several coats of duplicolor silver base then several coats of "Smoke" tint spray.

It's getting redone soon since i scratched it up a little but it looks pretty good in person IMO.

Well if it were possible I would glass bead it like the shots in the Off Topic section and then give it a low gloss clear.

In any case DONT use a regular spray bomb. You need to use engine enamel. If you use regular spray paint either the heat or the oil will remove it sooner or later.

this is with the metalcast kit you can get from parts stores. it changes color over time, but has a real good look in person

it has a 'candy' look, changes in light
