  • gen 1 2.8 aftermarket heads

    i was reading this here a long time ago that there was aftermarket heads avalible for the
    2.8 iron head motor does anybody know what i am talking about or remember the name of them ??

    there were potter heads, and RFRE heads. Perhaps some others but as far as new castings that were aftermarket, that is what comes to mind.

        There isn't much info out there and I don't know where the pics are anymore. I was hoping someone else would say more on it.

          They are little more than myth. They were so obscure that only race boats and stadium trucks got them.

          You are better off doing a FWD head swap.

          The Potter heads were basically testing grounds for Gen2 heads

              I have never seen a set, so I decided to use the Gen3 stuff on a 3.4. It should smoke some LT1 F-bodies after the mods

                Even if you found them, you'd need the matching custom intake manifold setup, as the heads are "complete". In other words, the intake manifold does not complete the top part of the head (like the regular heads). Its not like its just a plug-and-play modification.

                    I bet Gen III heads would blow them out of the water anyway.

                      so there just a early try at the new aluminum heads of today then so not worth the efort to try to get a set

                        Your biggest hurdle for the Gen3 heads on a Gen1 block is the DIS conversion (unless you get a 3.4).
