I went to pick up some 3400 upper and lower intakes today, and the guy tols me he'd throw in the injectors and fuel rail for 100 bucks. I said ok, and went with the kid who was going to pick the parts for me

We went out to the motor and he started stripping the intakes off. When he was done he was like..."there ya go buddy".
He left the TB, injector harness, EGR, MAP sensor... so I took it all to my truck and got the hell out of there before he realized that those items don't come as part of the package! I love inexperianced parts pickers!!

    heres the 3100 now...

i wondering if i should wait for 3400 heads too... but im not sure, i might be able to work the 3100 heads to flow better.

Wow that's a dirty engine bay. And it looks like it has a junkyard motor in it. I guess the original one blew at some point? Blue coolant tube?? LOL

You got a 3400 from a Van. Bare plenum. Pretty neat. So everything for $100? Not bad. You don't need to use the injectors or FPR until you can tune.

Usually it's like that, they will just zip it off and that's what you get. They don't want to bother take out the injectors and all that stuff and then leaving it loose in a pile. When I got my 3500 plenum online they sent it with the TB, EGR, etc all attached.

You gonna pull the heads and re-work em? 3400 heads will have slightly bigger intake valves, but probably not worth it unless you are gonna pull the heads to port anyway. I would at least port the upper intake to the lower though.

im going to port the ever-loving shit out of the plenums, like I did with the small port stuff in my Malibus 3100...this time though I want one of the 62mm TB's off this site if someone would let me know about shipping here to Canada!!!! (where are you site boss guy)

as far as the heads... yeah, im gonna take them off this monte and try to work'em over. I could get the larger valve heads I guess... but then I have to worry about how other components attatch when it goes back together right?...
I suspect the 3100 heads can flow decently enough with some work done to them... except I've never ported heads ever, but who cares... certainly not me. I've fu%$ed up lots of crap
What would I come up against if I used 3400 heads? and yeah... it's one dirty mo-fo under that hood... ugly! i've only had the car 2 weeks though. that blue coolant tube adds 5 horse though.

3400 heads should not give you any issues at all. You already have the 3 wire CTS sender probably so no issues about coolant sensor in the head.

Why are you building up the monte? The malibu is a lighter platform to begin with. Unless you just like the car and want a bit more pep?

I sold the Malibu. I know the Monte Carlo in stock form is 300 pound heavier (which I couldnt believe), but I got it for 600 bucks... couldnt resist. I'm hoping to find ways of reducing the weight... wheels and tires are a given, but beyond that i can really only look at carbon fiber shit... thats overpriced though.
I saw a supercharged 3800 on a local trade site here for 200 bucks! (heres the ad)

but thats too much for me right now... the platform allows for a wide range of things though... so i'll find ways around the weight... for one I only weigh 160... and my wife 110, so at least we dont bog it down when we're in it...besides, i got these headlights off -ebay
            soooo..whatever, they'll look awsome

                ^^^ LOL

Yeah those headlights remind me of the newer impala headlights. Should update the look of the car some.

You should do a 3900 swap. It will fit a W body stock mounts I hear.

EDIT: That 92 3800 S/C is not an L67. The L67 is 240hp and that old S/C engine is way less than that.

a 3900 swap?? you know... im not sure what that would cost, but by the time i get my wheels, tires, shocks, strut mounts, springs, brakes... i probably could have done it... i've already got about 1900 planned into it.. im going to take a couple weeks and pay off the credit card and go on a parts buying rampage... i want this car good for the summer

she did... actually orca, as she's been affectionately dubbed, paid 1500 upfront for the car, and I agreed to let the other 320 slide for a week. One week later, no sign of orca. I had to go track her down at her holding tank in Niagara Falls...(ironically, home of "Marineland"), had her adress from her recipte! No call first, just showed up... I sat in the driveway with the motor running for about 10 minutes so they'd wonder who the f&%k was in the driveway... then went up to the door... she's like... "yeah i didnt make it out today" ..im like "really?" As if i didnt notice bitch gave me a hundred bucks and promised she'd be out tuesday. Her husband was home... but he sounded gayer than...fuck i dont know...a real gay guy... anyways...i cant believe he has sex with her.
anyways, she loves the Malibu and only complains that it didnt come with a giant shoehorn to ease her exit and entry... YOU KNOW WHAT? when she comes back in once more... i should ask for a picture of the car with her standing by it... cuz i really want you guys to see this big ole' chicken eating bitch.. haha.. yeah

                          enough with the V's...

Oh and if you have any reason for doing so I would attempt to stay away from the 99 3400 upper plenum's AKA the clean no lettered ones... the neck is restricted quite a bit from a casting mark on the underside of the intake.

what about the 97 no letter upper plenums? worts case... i get another plenum that says 3400, which i would have prefered anyways.

Any 3400 pre 2000 will have the weird casting on the TB neck that isn't as good as the 2000+ units. But keep in mind the 2000+ units changed EGR style so you'll need that style EGR and the EGR to exhaust tube to put that on. (EGR still works with ECM the same).
