  • oops. i did it again

i bought a gem of a lumina to sell, but couldnt part. now im selling my Malibu
    (pic below)

now i found this car (pic below), and bought it. to expensive for owner to fix, has recipte for engine with 100k on it (roughly 65k miles), leaks coolant, overheated. they pulled over and had the car towed to a shop where they were told they needed a head gasket. motor is a 3100.

    1997 Monte Carlo
Maybe it is a head gasket, but I'm hoping it's leaked coolant out of the LIM and overheated from lack of pressure keeping the coolant below boiling point. If something is terribly wrong... im only spending 600 bucks on it.

Wouldnt the stock tune of the Monte Carlo be a little different than a 97 Malibu Sedan? I realize a Monte could also come with a 3.8 to make it go quicker, but I like the 3x00 because of it's ease and familiarity, and im hoping they'd have made it a little more potent of of the factory. (of course im going to have to modify it anyway)

Nope, tune should be the same or very close. They don't change the tune to make more power in 2 door cars.

I think your right there buddy... turns out the Monte is more of a godam lumber wagon than my Malibu. CRAP... i drove the Monte around trying to get it to overheat... but it wouldnt... so I got in my Malibu to go home from the shop later that night and noticed then just how much of a f*%king difference I made in that 3100... she's pretty quick!

The bitch thats buying it is like 450 easy... i mean she shoehorned her ass into that drivers seat... i kid you not, the friend she brought with her was probably 250 all day... with me driving, a whale in the front passenger, and a seal in the back... it was hard to demonstrate what it would do.. it was like towing a utility trailer... anyways, off topic here...

          1997 monte carlo LS
vehicle weight: 1506 kg (3313 lbs)
19.4 lbs per HP @170 hp (stock)

          1997 chevy Malibu LS
vehicle weight: 1396 kg (3071 lbs)
          18.01 lbs per HP @170
16.16 lbs per HP @190 hp (my estimated modifications increase)

          1993 Chevy Lumina
vehicle weight: 1586 kg (3489 lbs)
24.92 lbs per HP @140 hp (stock)

Threw my Lumina in there just for fun.. wow, that wasnt so fun, anyhow... lumina is now my daily driver.
Im wondering how the f&%k I can peel some weight off that Monte Carlo... It's way to damn heavy, and that 3100 is still sick AND bone stock.

based on weight/performance/economy I think they must

the tune is exactly the same regardless whether the car has 2 or 4 doors.
ive owned a 2 door version and 4 door version of a grand am and you know what same exact tune.

its prob gear ratios and the fact that one car is 300 lbs heavier than the other.

the only difference was the $83 cheaper the 4 door was on my insurance.

should have told her to buy a superduty ford or something with heavy duty springs in it, that tranny and engine must be crying when she drives the car.
