  • 3.4L anifold question

    Yo Gang,

I'm looking for some a new intake manifold for a newly installed 3.4L in my Jeep. Yes, a Jeep. The old 2.8L finally died after 250K miles so I threw in a new 3.4L. Runs great but I need a bit more power.

My goal is to throw on a 4 barrel Holley with anti-spill. The carb has a standard 4 barrel Chevy bolt pattern. So I'm looking for a new manifold with the capabilites of bolting on the aforementioned attachment.

Any one know of someone selling a used one or where I can get a new one?? I know Edelbrock makes them, but the tech dude says it won't fit the 3.4L although it fits the 2.8L.

    Thanks a bunch.

ps: I'm here because most people at other sites just ask wierd questions like "Why didn't you throw in a 455 ci ant 700R4 tranny." Like I have 5 grand. :P

That manifold will bolt onto the 3.4 just as easily as it will on the 2.8

I think the reason he said it won't is that it's not listed as being applicable for the 3.4, since it was always an EFI engine (except the GM crate) and replacing the FI system with a carb was not only a downgrade, but probably illegal due to emissions.

Here's a 3.4 with that intake being used in a kit car:

You can bolt any 2.8L manifold to a 3.4L. Holley is a good product. Offenhauser (spelling) has a manifold out there that is one of the best. Edelbrock also sells a manifold and carb kit. The best carburetor for the 660 is the Weber carb. If you order an LMCtruck catalogue you will be able to buy the kit for a good price.
