Would the smaller 3100 style starter bolt up/work for a GenII?

Are all the fwd 60v6 starters interchangeable? Does the smaller one have a reduction? The one in the beretta (GenII) is kinda flaky, was just wondering if the smaller 3100 style would fit.

Yeah, they work just fine so far on any engine with the starter mounted the same way. (4/6/8 cyl engines). I had one on my 2.8 before i switched to the 3400.

"The one in the GenII is kinda flaky" - What do you find to be flaky about it? I've always liked these starters when compared to some, due to the fact it is pretty similiar to a SBC starter, just a little smaller.

I didnt mean anything about the design of the starter. Sometimes the solenoid chooses not to work and the pinion doesnt engage the flywheel... its just old and on its way out. When I said GenII... I shoulda said in MY GenII.
