Is there any reference anywhere as to what the block numbers are for the various versions of 60V6? Namely, I'm looking for is how to tell the difference between the 1st and 2nd gen 2.8L blocks. I'm looking for a number response so I can make an absolute conclusion.

Newer blocks are different. The 3400s have an A cast into the side, whereas the 3100s have a B cast into the side. Not sure when they started doing that though...-Brad-

I noticed some numbers on the top by the timing chain cover but I forgot to write the numbers down this morning.

"1st and 2nd gen 2.8L blocks" - Well, I couldn't find the link I was looking for but, it had everything...
Anyhow, does anyone know this, I don't think any 1st Gen's would have been built drilled for the crank position sensor? If so, that would be a good identification.
Of course, I think some of the GenII or 3 blocks that were used in some vans and stuff with a distributor may not have been drilled either.
I'm not really too sure of this though. If I seem Crazy it is because, I am insane. No lie. Ask my psychiatrist. But, i have good intentions. sometimes.
