  • Differences in Engine Sensors from 3100 to 3400's?

Reason i'm asking is that I have old sensors from my 95 3100 that I want to use on my swap.

    I'm using an 02 3400 engine. With a 98 monte carlo 3100 PCM.

I take it that the 3400/3100 sensors 96+ are all the same. But anyone know if the 95 sensors will work?

    Thanks in advance guys.

Knock sensors are different when going from OBD1 to OBD2, so keep that in mind. Other than that I don't know of any that won't swap back and forth.

Knock sensor needs to match the PCM that it is connected to.

PCM or MEMCAL I would think since the knock sensor has a specific frequency in which it is designed to work and the ESC module is in the chip for those with removable calpaks.

Right. The KS has to match the calpack on the chip. On the later years, this is the removable module in the PCM, but I'm not sure if the module is interchangable if the PCMs are different generations. Usually, it is easier to just get the correct KS for the PCM that you plan on using.

            Thanks. I wonder if sensors for a 98 3100 are cheaper than a 02 3400?
