Time to show my old age and stupidity. Still in the process of swapping out the engine from my 88 Jimmy and a "free" engine from a junk yard. The engine came from an 85 S-10 and the mileage on the truck was 186,000 miles. I have the engine apart, and it does not show this type of wear. I looked at the side of the engine looking for a engine number. I came across a number right after the Canadian Stamp The number is V or Y or 1 and the rest is 14089818. Is this the engine number and does anyone know what year it is. Also, there is a difference in the valve covers from the 88 to the believed 85. The engine is older than the 88, know this from the oil pan gaskets and the heads. Any help is appricated.
