no, they dont come stock... harmonic dampers do, putting a balancer on would actually "unbalance" your engine

harmonic balancers come stock on these engines from the factory and thats whats going back on it. I was NOT impressed by the UDP at all. and it wasnt worth the $120 I paid for it either IMO
How were you not impressed??? Did you dyno it and not see the proven 5-8whp gain???

Or are you just complaining about the problems that come with modifying an engine for power and not convenience?

Because I could give you a list about mine but its all worth it if you ask me.

Ive got my reasons you've got yours No need to take it so personal.

and what do you mean about modifying an engine? Ive spent close to 1K on the 3400 that Im putting it.

I guess someone needs to buy them a buttdyno!

For actually feeling the power increase, I noticed a slight increase. However, I did re-install my CAI at the same time.

I'm planning on using a stock 3400 damper with mine although i've been thinking about putting it on a lathe and lightening the load.. it's still technically smaller than the 3500 pully.

im not sure if i'll be lightening my pulley but i will be balancing it.... i intend to do this will all of the metallic pullies, if you really want a gain your better off switching to an electric water pump though as it creates a lot more drag.. i might go this route but making it all work and last for atleast 3 years without burning out is the hard part, most electric pumps ive used like to burn out fairly quickly

i was curious about what all you guys said so i emailed them about the crankshaft vibration issue and asked if they meant it to be for dailydriving or racetrack only:

                  Hello Chris,

Thank you for your interest in MRZ Performance products. Both UDP and ALP are made to be daily driven with absolutely no problem. They have been designed to be used for daily driving or race use. The UDP is very realiable and wont produce an oil leak since we insert a steel insert where the oil seal sits, without this steel inserts the seal would cut a groove in the aluminum on long term use.

let me know if you have any other questions.

                  Thank you again!

Yeah many people run them without apparent issue but if you want to make 100% sure your engine doesn't wear or whatever then run the stock dampener.

                            Hello Chris,

We are aware of this concern with the crank pully. A lot of user of the solid UDP had them for years on GM V6 engines with no major failures on the crankshaft bearings. I agree that having a real harminic balancer would be
the best way to go to guarantee that the engine runs perfecty smooth for years to come. The problem here is mainly the price and demand on the product... the harmonic has to be made from 2 pieces of aluminum and also the steel ring for the oil seal, this means more material to be used and a longer machining process. The parts have to be vulcanized together, this has to be done by specilist out of our facilities since we do not own this
equipment, this is not cheap since molds have to be made. The harmonic has to be balanced after this process since the pully outer ring cannot be 100% concentric compared to the center hub after the rubber has been vulcanized.
With all these process involved the price will be at least 3X the price of the UDP and we would have to get a very high volume to be able to offer a price that would be more realistic.

When we developped the UDP, we would have prefered to produce a real harmonic over a solid UDP but all these reasons have made us go with the solid UDP way, so we do not consider producing real harmonics for now unless
we get a high demand for it.

Thank you again and let me know if you have any questions about the UDP or any other product.
