  • Two simple questions

First I want to know if a 2.8 from a 86 Cavalier will swap into my 89 Camaro, I'm not sure if the Cavies back then were FWD. I know that it is an iron head motor but if I have to do motor mounts a such then forget it. There is one in the local paper for a good price.

Second, does anyone know the stock diameter of the exhaust port or the iron heads, for my 89. Thanks.

Cavaliers were always FWD. The install would require new mounts.

The actual port opening is around 1" in size. The valve is 1.42"

Isn't the starter a concern that will need to be addressed? IIRC the oil pan might be another issue to look into.

Yeah they are, I'm not going to pick it up. For some reason I thought the old ones were RWD.

If you want a RWD car the size and weight of a Cavalier, get your hands on a Monza or one of the sister cars from Oldsmobile or Buick. I think an LSX powered Monza with a 6 speed would be bad ass. Or maybe one with a 3.6L DOHC.
