Will a fan off a '87 S10 2.8 work on an '89 4.3? Are they both reverse rotation due to serpinetine belts?

Most likely they will. I have worked on both and at a glance they look the same but I cant guarantee it

Thanks for the reply. I don't have the 2.8 after all. But this S10 p/u with a 4.3 has a 3 blade fan and would like to change it to a 5 blade. It doesn't have a/c which is probably why it has a 3 blade. I wonder if the a/c and the non/a/c go in the same direction?

Yes they all spin the same direction. The 2.8L was reverse rotation in 1987 and up.

Thanks. Do you know anything about the "Flexlite #5900"? I had a flex fan on a '72 Chevelle a long time ago and when the rpm got up there it sounded like an airplane. I took it off. It was blue with stainless steel blades, very sharp, as in knife.

            They are junk.
In fact if I were building anything today I would install an electric fan. You get at least a 2MPG return and a bit of performance. Plus if you like you can add an optional override.

Thanks for the info. I was about to get one. I'll just look for a 5 blade stock fan to replace the 3 blade.

I had a "salad shooter" on my T/A.. it was horrible. Electric is the way to go.
