where are you at in IL ?

that sounds pretty good through the video.. the 3500 does have a different sound to it than the older '660s much smoother due to the improved crank and rods.

Well I guess I will be going to do full exhaust soon. I feel the 2" piping, 200,000 mile cat, and the stupid 1" & 5/8" or whatever it is downpipe is severely limiting my other mods on the motor (3400/3500 intakes).

Anyone have an idea what a shop would charge to do downpipe back? And would they make a new downpipe or just weld over the stupid double walled pipe? What size should I go for my 3100? 2.25" 2.5" ?

I'm thinking of going w/the aerochamber now. The ultraflo is quiet even with engine braking, but I wouldn't mind a little more powerfull growl...

I'm at the Capital of Missouri..

            ADDED:

Hey PCGUY that sounds awesome with that cam. Can you get an in car video of the sound cruising around normal driving in town?

if you're gonna spend some money, might as well go with the 2.5. do it once.

FWIW, I just ordered the vibrant resonator from Verocious Motorsports. I started to order it from sfxperformance, but their shipping was 7-10 days.

I got the resonator from VM for 59 bucks and it's coming from Delaware so I should see it by Wednesday no problem.

I noticed that I could order the expedited shipping, but it never said how much more it was going to cost, so I was a little apprehensive.

                    • It was no extra cost. I cant see any increase in price through all my invoices from them.

                        • Hey Jon, I asked you this before, but what do you recommend about the downpipe? If I where to take it to a shop what would I tell them and what would they need so that they could make a new downpipe that wasn't double walled just straight 2.5" on back? Would they be able to do it them selves or do they need a flange or something?

                          • Ive got a Magnaflow on my car, and its raspy as all hell. However i moved the muffler to the cat tunnel, with a cat right infront of it. So im running a mandrell 2.5 downpipe with 3400 manifolds, its all wrapped up to the cat, to the magnaflow single 2.5 in dual 2.0 out, and it runs back to 2 24"boomtubes.

Now, i wanted to toss an Aerochamber on there, but i need a muffler that wont blow out like the magnaflow did (wayyy too hot) With the muffler so far foward it really changes the tone, i just need a good muffler to give it some nice huff. In theory, if i didnt like the sound the aerochamber produced, i could add another muffler to the end, but i really dont want to do that. Do you think an aerochamber would hold up to higher heats than the magnaflow? Im sure alot of the rasp will be gone with a chambered muffler on it, or at least somwhat chambered, and with all that pipe after the muffler, it really deepens the tone. As it sits the car sounds amazing after 3k, but this setup has to go.

                            • the Aerochamber will probably hold up better than the Magnaflow, it's all welded with no extra BS in there.

i had my aerochamber 3" in/out where the cat goes and 3" mandrel bent to the back when i first installed it. it was incredibly loud, like almost the same as open header. I ended up moving the muffler to the back and Y'ing the pipe to the tips. It got a little quieter that way... still damn loud.

any time you mount the muffler up close to the engine like that it's gonna make the exhaust loud as hell.

                              • I don't know what the aerochamber construction is.. I don't know if it has roving in it or not. A flowmaster doesn't have packing but doesn't flow that well wouldn't burn up.

Keep in mind though any muffler closer to the engine heat will be louder than when it's at the very end where the gasses have had time to cool.
