I tapped that steel line a LONG time ago...

I think I started on the back of the intake but then I didnt like it back there for some reason... I'm not sure why.

Headers got some love this weekend, and the TB sticking issue was fixed... The plate was acting as the throttle stop and the linkage screw wasn't even touching the linkage when the plate was closed... I adjusted that out and all is good.

Looks better in natural light with no flash.

      Purdy Plenum.

I really like how you did the text. KFLO's isn't flat like that, and has more rounded edges after polishing. You lapped it flat like you would a heatsink for a computer. I like it much better like this. Looks nice. Sharp clean edges FTW!

That header paint looks good. Hope it lasts this time.

I'd go a head and paint the steel trans vacuum line and the coolant recovery tank hard line black too. I think it would "un-clutter" and be less busy. Then your eye would go more to the valve covers/plenum/headers.

              Block sanding FTW!!!!

I may paint those two lines, especially the coolant one since that sticks out the most.

I just use a wire brush, then "Formula 88", and then acetone. Aluminum specific primer can also be used (zincoxyde IIRC), but I've haden't had any probems using degreaser and acetone in the past.

                    Aluminum primer?? for headers?

The intake is fine, its the headers that wont hold the paint.

DOH! I thought you meant the UIM (I was wandering why you called them "tubes" )

you dont even need to calibrate the butt dyno to feel the improvement from a dead stop, requires way less throttle to get going. helps the low end out too. before i put mine on when i had the stock with the larger downpipe it felt like it lost a little low end, now its not a problem. tires brake loose everytime.

I have header paint... it’s not the paint it’s the application/prep that counts... remember its always the prep work that blows the product out of the water or kills it...

Mine was NOT properly prepped the third time around and it was too heavily coated the first time, and you used 500* paint the second time so that’s why it burnt off. Plus I don’t want black headers... that would expel too much heat.

sand em up and paint them then. painting them the way they are is like painting a car without ruffing the clearcoat up, it will fall off eventualy.

i think they sold a high temp clear in the flameproof line. could try that too it would help protect the paint longer than just paint alone.

Jon, been following your build,,, looks great!!! Maybe when I get my Z34 back together I can give it some love and get it lookin' good!!!

What I was really wonderin' is if you happened to be hanging around Thompson last Thurs night (when John Blewett died)???
Sounds like a REAL mess!! It sounded like a GREAT race untill that happened... My buddy was there and told me about it the next day when we went to Lime Rock for the Bucsh Race.... The last time he went to Thompson Tommy Baldwin Sr was killed right in front of where they were sitting... Maybe he should be barred from NASCAR events!!!
Haven't been to Waterford or Thompson myself, although that could change as it's not too far away, Waterford is only about 1/2 hour away, Thompson is much further, probably an hour or more... Live in East Haddam.... Also a friend of mine is Crew Cief for Eric Burgoise, also of East Haddam. Not too sure if he's still racing, I'd imagine he is as he does pretty good...
Only met Eric a few times but, Tim (crew chief) and I go back close to 40 years, tho I haven't seen him for awhile....
Perhaps I'll run into you in the future.. When I get my car going maybe we can get together, you live about 1/2-3/4 of an hour away..... I go to Norwich for parts and you can't be too much further...
                              Tom
