  • The Phoenix is rising!!

Hello, I have a 3.1 V6 Corsica that I am rebuilding. This car has taken ALOT of punishment by me and was faithful to me the whole time. I mean, I abused this car, ie. took it off road; didn't change the oil for 20,000 miles; etc. The car has put up alot with me so feel i should restore it, plus it's also my first car and i really loved this car, I just didn't know how to take care of it.

Any way, to make a long story short, I purchased a donor car that runs and has all the right body panels I need. I have a '96 3.1L V6 and the donor is a '96 2.2L I4. This 4-cylinder has more options than mine does, like power windows, rearview mirror with lamps, and the list goes on. I am taking apart the 4 cylinder but I'm running into a problem with taking the power windows out of the 4 and putting them into mine. Does anyone know where to get a GREAT electric wiring diagram for this car? Has anyone ever done this before? Any help would be great. Thanks!

First of all, this is in the wrong area. The pushrod section is for ENGINE tech. Power windows would be more in the OFFTOPIC area. This site is primarily about the ENGINES, but we like to help with all things.

Now that aside, I am sure there is someone that can help you, and if this is in the wrong area, then a moderator will move it.

That aside, welcome to the site.

I converted my 1988 Cutlass Supreme from the manual windows to the power window, but that car is a different platform.

you are best off getting on EBAY and getting a factory service manual for your car LIKE THIS ONE!!!!!

Those will give you some VERY DETAILED wiring diagrams and will also cover the engine. Those books will basically cover your car front to back, top to bottom, upside down, inside out. EVERYTHING that you will ever want to know can be found in those.

I know a lot of the information is pretty general between the GM cars, but with that, you will have nothing to stop you, and no risk of incorrect information from (EXAMPLE) someone giving you a 1993 diagram that has changed that happened in 1995.

You can also get an AllData account (www.alldatadiy.com) for $20 and have access to all the wiring diagrams, and a ton more.

Sorry about that, I thought I was in the right area. Thanks for the info. I also do plan to mod the engine.

Speaking of which, the only problem that I have ever had with this motor is the alternator. It has never really lasted that long and I have had to replace it about once a year. Has anyone else had this problem? Is there an alternator that will last?

sounds like either you are getting a bad reman, or you have too much of an electric draw somewhere.
