  • Gave my 3400 a face lift

I decided I was sick of looking at the upside down 3400 on the top of the intake manifold. Playing around with FeatureCAM my boss helped me throw the intake in our mill and clean it up.

I want to fill the letters in with red epoxy paint. Any suggestion on where to get some high temp epoxy paint in small quantities???

That is the sweetest 3x00 plenum I have ever seen... There are people on here who have painted the letters on the plenum before, so someone will be able to answer your question. Not sure they really used anything special as far as I remember.

I bet people would be willing to send you their plenum if you were to offer that service...

        That sir, is NICE!
Yeah I'd have to agree for a 3400/3100 plenum that's the nicest.

I used high temp engine spray paint for my plenum. Just mask it off and then spray in there or spray some in a cup and paint...

You probably could use "normal" paint and if it gets damaged use some brake cleaner to strip it off.

But for $5 a spray can of high temp stuff is worth the peace of mind.

Come to think of it I didn't use high temp white for my white chevrolet letters. I hope it doesn't come off or fade, as mine was a lot of work to get the letters there, its not milled like yours!!! The red bowtie and black are high temp however.

I have some red engine paint and someone else suggested mixing it with some epoxy so I am going to try that and see how it looks when it dries.

          Thanks for the suggestions guys.

I would avoid epoxy. It will likely turn yellow or brown with the heat. If you must use the 2 ton devcon not the 5minute stuff. The 2ton will resist heat and UV better and stay more clear, but I'm not sure how it will hold up to engine temps. I know this from experience with epoxy and glow in the dark powders. The 2 ton stuff will stay clear on a 100w light bulb so it's good up to that temp (I smeared my left overs on the bulb once hhaha)
