  • After almost 2 years, my car runs! Thank you OBDII

Well, after tossing every possible thing at my Z26 that could be a problem (I'm not even going to begin listing all the things I replaced), and even going to the point of having my intakes/heads/valves/springs done up nice (THANK YOU BEN!), it came down to changing a wiring harness on my car to fix the mis-fire on hot restart issue that stemmed from my 3400 swap I started back in Dec of 04/Jan 05.

I still need to find and swap a 96 Z26 dash harness, and swap the ABS pump, but my car runs wonderful after swapping the engine harness out w/ one from a 96 L-body (which my friend Dave Holst graciously removed all trace of automatic-related wiring out of to make it more compatible/factory looking w/ my 5spd swap).

So to Ben, Brad, and anyone else I harassed when I was confused as shit about the car running like crap, THANK YOU for your help, and this is to let you know that I finally got the car running. Now I can get a DHP tuner, and maybe drive up to Ben for some tuning assistance

Oh, Ben... that knock sensor didn't work out

FYI, in case you don't remember me, I'm the one that had the little Scion tC coupe that showed up at your place LATE one night in August. And so I don't get reamed, I sold the Scion a few months later, so I'm back into the GM family.

Glad to see you finally got the problem fixed Geoff. One of these days I'll either swap in my standalone or do an OBD2 swap as well. I just have too many other projects piling up that the car will be at the bottom of the list for a long time...

Awesome! Well, sucks that it took all that to get to the real problem but at least its fixed now I hate electrical issues so im curious if you pinpointed it before you swapped it out?

That TC wasn't a bad looking car but yeah, enough of that:P

I didn't really do any pinpointing, as the engine harness was literally the ONLY thing left to check/replace... so I figured since I was going to go through with changing it, I might as well upgrade to OBDII while I was at it... that way if the harness DIDN'T solve the problem, it would at least help me pinpoint the issue.

Have you played with a DHP powertuner yet Ben? It'd be interesting to see what you could do w/ a tune on this car, since you have some pretty extensive tuning knowledge IMHO.

I haven't had a chance, mostly because DHP never sent me the information on become a reseller and I get the feeling I never will.
