  • HELP!!! High flow air filter in a 2.8mpfi

    hi friends i live in mexico, i have a pontiac firebird `89 with a 2.8MPFI and a 700r4 trans.

my cuestion is... why, when i run the engine without air filter, the engine fails, lost power... etc. and its the same with the high flow air filter... why????

my dad have a buick century with a 3.1 mpfi engine, when i run it without air filter it works perfect!

Not sure on that engine, but if it has a MAF, did you remove that as well?

      Welcome.

Maybe you have accidentally unplugged a sensor?

nop all sensors are plugged in... but i think a sensor has a fail because, with the OEM air filter when i maintain a throtle position for a few seconds with the car in drive position the check engine light turns on, i dont know why, i try to adjust the TPS, but the problem continues.

ahhh somebody knows where i need to connect the oxygen sensor???? because is disconnected and i cant find any wire to plug...

        tks!
