  • balancing cranckshaft pulley

can someone tell me if the cranckshaft pulley
on my fiero 2.8 v6 is neutrally balanced on it's own,or is it balanced
in conjuction with the cranckshaft ?

I want to use a pully from a 3.1 beretta to machine 2 more grooves in it
to drive my supercharger and possibly getting it balanced by itself

All balancers/pullies are neutral balanced. So yes, the 3.1 Beretta pulley can be used on the Fiero engine.

          thats a possibility,

but then I would not be able to have 8 grooves for the serpentine belt
that I need for driving my supercharger.

and if I want a few extra ponies..I'll turn up the boost.
BTW.....I am not looking for 350 or 400hp.

          thanx for the tip bud.

Are you running a Ford M90 with the 8-groove pulley? If so, you can swap the pulley for a 6-rib version, or even just use a 6-rib belt on the 8-groove pulley (not what I would do). You really don't need an 8-groove belt unless you are really spinning the blower hard and making a lot of boost.

              sc pulley

Yes I wanna run the 8 groove belt if possible.
that way I won't have a lot of slip.

I know a 6 groove will work, but ford uses the 8groove ones and probably for a reason.

the ford 3.8sc makes about 10 psi or so...that's not really high boost.

I think I will use the 3.1 pulley and machine 2 more grooves in it.

the ford's crankpulley is perfect sized for the waterpump and I already have an 8groove pulley for my alternator.

              thanx,B
