so i picked up my 3500 today and there is a sheet metal plate on the timing cover that says roush. the font of the letters are the same style as roush that makes the fast mustangs. anybody ever had this. i tried searching but didnt find anything. the engine is at a buddies house so i will get picks tomorrow.

It's not likely they did anything to the engine, my comment was more wishful thinking than anything however you have to question why they would put the badge on the timing cover where almost no one can see it. That means the engine had to be designated for a ROUSH modified vehicle in advance so who knows, maybe that's why some G6 engines have steel cranks and some don't, mine did and as I mentioned earlier the salvager looked at the patch and considered charging me more for the engine.
Many may not be aware of this but their are at least two different types of 3500 cylinder heads and some are aware that there are two different upper plenums although it boils down to one being tapped for a vacuum hose it is possible it can have suttle differences that improve performance. I know the heads are different and that it's not just a part number issue.

In addition to building performance cars, Roush also manufacturers/supplies parts to all of the Big Three automakers. My bet is they are just the supplier of this particular part for the 3500's. Nothing high-performance about it.'99 Z-28 - Weekend Driver
