    T5 or 700r4 from a 2.8/3.1 camaro/firebird or a 2.8 S10.

Also the 2.2L trannies (NV 1500) which is a little weak if your going for high power.

2.5L iron duke (from S-10) will also bolt up. It is the same T5 used behind the 2.8L. The only thing with the Camaro trans is that it is rotated a few degrese to the drivers side. But it may be desierable in some cases. Also the shifter is about 6" further back than one found in an S-10.

welll heres the whole story .. I have an 85 nissan 300zx that after 249XXX miles the motor died.. It has a 5 speed already .. well I have an extra 3.1 ltr turbo motor sittin in the corner.. I thought it would bee fun to swap in the 3.1 and a rwd tranny .... I think in the rwd form I could really see what this motor could do.. I love my tgps but the fwd traction thing is hard to get over and when it is the tranny or some othe part goes ......

i myself would put a nissan motor in, like a vg30dett or even an rb25 or rb26. it would be kinda cool to put a 3.1l turbo in a rwd, but when you think off all the work involved, id much rather put a 3.4l tdc and twin turbo it. but realy in the end, even if you get 350hp from it, a newer 300zx with a couple bolt ons would walk the thing.

would be fun to do if you have the equiptment to build custom mounts, exaust, ect. probly will end up costing you more money in all the parts to put the 3.1l turbo into it than to go find another stock nissan motor. heck, if you sold the 3.1l turbo motor, it would likley cover the cost of the new motor.

What tranny do you have. Is it a T5? Might be some helpful info here:

A while ago I posted pix and discussion of a simple and inexpensive way to set up the RWD/T5 combinations without using the hydraulic throw out bearing. It uses the stock GM hydraulic parts and can be done with the s10 or camaro bellhousings. The camaro bellhousing has to be modified a little, b

Sorry about that. OK, if you find a T5 from a Camaro, you can use the 2.8L V6 bellhousing as long as it's the dual pocket type.

The 3.1 has it's starter on the drivers side. That's why you'll need the two pocket bell.

If you find a T5 from a V8 Mustang (not a V6 or 4), you can use the bellhousing from a 94-95 2.2L S10 pickup. It also has a pocket on the drivers side. That's it on the left below.

                            Hope this is helpful
