  • 4t60e Problems

I replaced my trans for a newer one with " 40k miles" but since i changed it the newer one slips bad in any gear.
I have not taken it for a long road trip or anything so not sure about how it shifts out. One thing not sure if it has anything to do with it or not when in park if i bring the rpms up to 3k the speedo goes to arouns 15-20mph, could any of this be related to a bad speed sensor? or just SOL and replacing trans again..
Btw i can brake torque it to around 5k rpm..... not sure if it is torque converter / clutches in trans slipping or what.. any info would be appreciated.
we had to putt 11 quarts of fluid in to show full so looks like TC and all was drained and had sat for 6-7 months. Isomeone suggested seal conditioner added LUCAS not change.

actualy 11 quarts is normal for a dry 4t60e.

if you can brake torque it to 5k, it sounds like the converter has come apart. as for the speedo thing, you are somehow having current induced into the speed sensor curcuit

Finally drove it to my shop today , it acts like it takes off in 2nd gear.. i am about to replace the speed sensor .. once you get moving it pulls great but its just initial take off.

check this link , that was my problem wrong wiring... now anyone know what a " low discrete switch" is. that pin was left open and after rewiring it is open again.
