  • Hydralic throwout bearing swap

I have a 2.8 and 5-speed form a 86 camaro in my chevette. The hydralic slave cylinder causes some clearence porblems with the exaust. I think that the s-10's use the same tranny, and i recall that my dads has a hydralic throw out bearing. Dose aney body know if this can be swaped over. would there be aney machining reqired. Any other idias.
    Thanks
80 chevette, 86 2.8 mpfi,5 speed, much more to come.

    HTOB

We use Hydraulic Throw out bearings for the MG B conversion without issues. The one that I am familiar with is the McLeod HTOB. They run about $240 plus shipping. I guess HOWE makes one for about $150.00.

Either one of these will slip right into a T5 gearbox, but may need spacing depending on the flywheel you have.

Did the Chevettes come with T5 or some other manual? If they came with T5's (seem to have read that somewhere), do you have a picture of a Chevette gearbox? I am just interested to see the overall shape and mostly the tail housing shifter location compared to the S10, Camaro, and Mustang versions.
    Thanks,
    -BMC.

Thanks a lot, Chevettes came with both T5 and T4 transmissions. Mine was the T4 4-speed. If that is of any intrest to you i can take some pictures for you. Im not sure if they are the same or are lighter duty versions.

I would love to see some pics of those. Mainly interested in the looks of the tailhousing to see where the shifter comes out and how. I am always lloking for that next improvement for shifter styles and locations since we use the GM 60 degree V6 in non-GM applications.
        Thank you!
