  • Hard Left Turn - Tranny Noise/Comes out of gear

Basically it seems like ever since I did a fluid change in my tranny on my GP 96 3100 it seems like when I take hard left turns the tranny makes a whine noise, and if I take it hard enough and get on the gas it drops into neutral.

It may have done this before and I didn't notice... i'm really not sure. But it's pissing me off. Some people have told me that it's normal, that it's just the fluid sloshin to one side and the pump can't recover enough so it starts to come out of gear. But surelly GM woulden't let a car leave the factory doing that.

Any suggestions? I'm always afraid to turn left hard to take off from a light goin left hard because it makes an aweful noise and wants to come out.

You did check the level of the fluid with the trans in Nutral and already warmed up.

Ohh yeah forgot to mention that, fluid is full (checked when hot but in Park, shoulden't matter too much though), it was suggested to try to overfill a bit (like 1/2 a quart) so I did and it helped a bit but it still does it.

Actually its more like 2 quarts overfill to fix that problem. Id try 1/2 and see if it helps, and add another 1/2 if that doesn't do it. I have done 2 on my 4T60 and it was still running strong at 17xk miles when I pulled it for a 5 speed swap. I ran it like that for at least 4 years.

The one time it did that to me I did a fluid/filter change. The only time that has ever happend to me was like 9 years ago when I had my '89 Cutlass. All my cars after that never did that. I'd always change the fluid when I got another car like ASAP...
