  • f23 getrag

anyone have any experiance with the f23 getrags??? i know there is a wide range of gearing avalible for them, aswell as a couple limited slip diffs. now gm doesnt rate them for much (165ft/lb torque) but i have heard of them holding 400+hp behind ecotecs.

now i know the 2.2l ohv used the getrag f23 00-02, and i know they are the same bolt pattern as a 60 degree. i was tossing the idea around about swapping one behind my ironhead. my biggest concerns are the clutch (release heights and making the internal slave work right) and the tranny holding up. the shifter is easy, grab a 2000+ cavalier shifter and cables and drop a b&m short throw into it. i would end up welding the mount brackets from the 2000+ into my car, giving me 4 good mounts.

    any thoughts

i have this on my 00 3100, used a 3.1 flywheel and clutch. doing this along with the stock slave and you shoulnt have any issues

(ps got the aluminum flywheel and clutch from bulley.)

If you use the F23 then just pickup a clutch for a 00' up 2200 . Might possibly use the flywheel from the 2200 or pick up a lightened flywheel .

could do that. i was thinking of using my bully clutch. i know the 2.2/2200 flywheel is the same as a v6, and you can directly bolt a 2.2l isuzu behind a v6 with using a v6 clutch. i was hoping that the getrag would be the same deal.

this wont happen for a long time though, i have no car anymore

400 hp ecotechs probably aren't going to be putting out the same torque as a 300hp v660. But should hold up fine for N/A I would say.

What tranz did you have? Is the old 282 or whatever not that smooth? (never shifted one) compared to this one?
