  • quad 4 tranny questions

i know its not 60 degree, but its related.

anyone here know much about quad 4s??? im looking for a 92-94 5 speed. did the LO quad 4 come with the getrag or isuzu??? from some other reading ive done, all 92-94 quad 4 came with a 3.94fdr, but there was a 3.94 fdr in the isuzu. i know the quad ohc (the sohc version) had an isuzu, but im not sure on the LO version. i know all the HO are getrags.

im just wondering if i need to find a car with a HO to get the tranny from. quad 4;s are kinda scarce around my area, so i may have to do some calling around to find out who has what, and i need to know what im talking about.

what about the late model LD9 (2.4) from the new z24's? maybe that has the gearing you need

the 2.4l uses an isuzu. they are not a very strong tranny. they will hold some horsepower, but dont try to throw v6 torque at em.

a couple people have pointed that out, but according to the getrag 282 section on this site and the quad 4 forums, the 92-94 quad 4 getrag has a 3.94 fdr, and the rpo code for that tranny is 3xtx. the w41 tranny has an rpo code 4xtx

what are your goals is what u need to keep in mind. a 92-94 q4 ho tranny will be a shorter 4th only. it will limit u in the 1/4 for future plans. i chose a 90 q4 ho tranny. it has a slightly shorter 2nd, and the desired 4th, and 5th, that will help u if u plan to be boosted (like i am since i will be hitting 5th in the 1/4....i believe that its a 3.61 ratio and is a little bit more common than a 3.94fdr. whatever u do stay away from a 91' tranny
