  • question about a 282 actuator....

im installing a new clutch in my 91 beretta, i decided to use a new actuator or whatever it is called. it has a plastic cap with small plastic straps, do i cut those off before i install it? the ones that are on the car now are broken, i dont know of thats how they are supposed to be or from age and use.

what you are reffering to is the slave cylender.

dont cut the straps off, just install it the way it is. once it is bled and you press the clutch down, it breaks the straps. its their to hold it during assembly and the peice on the end acts as a bushing.

ok cool, there was no instructions or anything in the box so i didnt know.

one more question, how would i bleed the system? im used to bleeding brakes but dont see any type of screw to loosen to let the air out, or am i just missing something here?

there is an allen head screw right behind the line. loosen it off and let it sit till fluid comes out. once fluid is comming out in a steady stream, snug it back up DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN THIS. i cant stress that enough. the plastic strips out very easily. after that, just pump the pedal with the cap off the master cyl. i find pushing down slowly and releasing qickly works the best (this pulls the air back up through the master).

i dont see an allen screw behind the line. a hard line attaches to a square piece that then goes into the slave cylinder. what am i missing or cant see?
