  • 3.33 or 3.29

Would there be a noticeable differnce between a 3.33 and a 3.29 FDR... I ask this because I have a 3.29 diff that has good planets and sun gear where my 3.33 diff planets and sun gear are somewhat beat and the sun gear has some play when in the diff where the other one doesn't have any... I have two choices, wait for a donor diff from someone to fix my 3.33 setup, or swap the internal ring gear from my 95 to this 94 and make it a 3.29 reverse cut, fine pitch diff... So I get stuck with the 3.29 for good, since the 3.33 is regular cut regular pitch.

So do you think I'll notice .04 in gear change??

It will already be a .32 min change from the stock ratio... 2.97 to 3.29 or 3.33

That is not much of a difference. I would wait for the 3.33 so you can go to a 3.73 later if you want. Thats the only real reason id wait though between 29 and 33.

yeah but 3.73 is so hard to do with a 95 computer... its bad enough I need to fool the speedo and I'll be showing faster than what I'm going so it will shift right.

Plus I already bought new drive and driven gears and a chain, I dont plan on doing this again... my gear swap will be 2.97 to 3.33 or 3.29 and I'll probably end up staying there. And with the 3.29 diff you can always go to a 3.68 FDR later... If I was nuts enough to pull the channel plate off again to do the drive driven gears.

The gears that determine the FDR are pretty deep into a 4t60e

You'd never notice a 0.04 gear ratio difference. That's barely over 1%. I've seen 4wd's with more difference than that between the front and rear axles, so it can't amount to much.

I may have a 3.33 by the end of this week... But we'll see (concerning price that is), I'm still unsure on what to do. I am still waiting for the 4th gear input shaft so I can't really push forward anymore. Plus I have no time.
