I just had a shop do a rebuild and they told me I'm missing a bracket or brace of some kind that attaches to the tailshaft of the 4T60E to the engine which is a GM 3.1L. I have never heard of it. Does anyone know of this? I cannot find any info on it or part numbers as of yet. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

The engine to transaxle support brace goes from the passenger side of the engine ane connects to the (differential cover)passenger side of transmission . Your dealer should be able to get that part. You shouldn't drive without it as the case will flex around.Lorenzo

Yep that's what I'm talking about. I been driving around without one for several years and have been exceeding the speed limit for miles on end. Now that I have had a rebuild it might be what's giving my ride noise problems. I suspect it's absence has been giving me a vibrating rocking noise for sometime here and there. Like when shifting into drive or slowing down. The transmission shop has pointed it out. Don't know how I made it this far without that bracket. But overall I'm surprised this isn't a common part that would be mentioned or detailed in any 4T60E or 3.1L config. I doubt it's make and model specific. I never seen it in any diagrams and have not come across anything on it. I am definately going to be contacting the dealer for part numbers and pricing. But I have a good feeling their gonna be lost on it or it's gonna be overpriced like everything else at the dealership. I might just dig around in the junkyard. But really what's the deal with this kind of part? If it's a necessary bracket from tailshaft to engine why wouldn't it be common? I checked transmission rebuilders and engine rebuilders part lists. No brackets. Like I said I doubt its make and model specific to the vehicle. There are two bolt holes on every 4T60E-4T65E and maybe so on. There are also bolt holes on that engine too.

it is a bit different on some stuff being the engine mount design. some cars have a mount that bolt to the tailhousing, some dont. also there are different designs for the bracket for different engines.
should be the same from a 3100/3400 with a 4t60e. a 3.1l with a 440t4 will be different, and so will a 3.1l with a 4t60e.
