  • RWD 5-speed... is it a getrag?

Who makes (made) the five-speed trannys for RWD behind the 60*? Are the camaro and S-truck trannys the same? Getrag? ZF?

I'm thinking about using my freebie 3.1 in an old worthless IH scout 4x4 project, but I want to be able to do the research on ratios and adaptability to transfer cases. Any word on strength? It might get some serious torque feedback crawling over those rocks. And where I climb, sometimes its days to get back out.

If I'm lucky, I can find some bellhousing that will let me run an NV3550 or AX15 behind it, but thought I should exhaust the easy route first.

    Thanks.

there are quite a few different manual trannies you can use. the 60 degree came with a borg warner t4, t5 and t10 in gm vehicles. i beleice the ax15 was used in jeeps with the 2.8l. there are a lot of options

someone had posted a link in this forum a while back that lead to the jeep boards. it had a complete list of all tranny combos you can use.

I just found that link! Great stuff thanks. What that also confirms is that the front of a 60* T5 case is not unique. Sometimes its more complicated because you can't just swap bellhousings, but it appears as though you can in this case.

I might have a winner with an easy AX15 for that Scout.
