  • World record-differential removal in a TH 125/3T40

    30 seconds!

that is one of the two pieces that were broke free.

Differential pin broke, spun around semi-loosely for a couple hundred Kms, then decided to exit the transmission case via a hole it was determined to make.

I owned the car 3 days.

see the rest of the carnage @

I did something similar in my first TGP. The spider gear decided that he wanted out of the picture. I picked up the pieces on the road after I went back and got them. I drove about 1/2 mile like this, and it wouldn't shift out of first. Probably because there wasn't hardly any fluid left in it.

happend to a friend of mine, then shorlt thereafter, it happened to me. His actually broke the case open, but I caught mine before it got that bad. I noticed that it sounded like the transmission pump was making noise, so I checked the fluid level to see if it was low. The fluid was black, so I dropped the pan, and noticed it while look up under it. Pulled it off the raod, and a week later bought my 4T60-E

ha ha I remember the conversation with Colin.

me: how long would it take to remove a differential?

Colin: I can do it in about an hour in my tranny with all the tools, in an auto, longer, because it's the last thing to come out.

me: oh really? I did mine in 30.

Colin:Oh is there a plate to open?

          me: seconds. http://www.domesticcrew.com/chris/tranny/trans2.jpg
