  • 4T60E side cover pan removal

    Hi
Recently have growing problem w/tranny in my Trans sport'96.
Slips-mostly from start and on cold (after night).
Suspect TCC and/or 1-2 shift solenoid.
I heard the replacement could be done by removing side cover pan only-did anybody do it ? (I.e. w/out removing the whole tranny)
I am a desperate DIY but still keep reasonable approach-PLEASE HELP !
    TIA.

    ..to be precise:
first-7-way connector broke (teeth on the socket) and fell out of the tranny's assembly, then I got a short of 15 Amp fuse behind passenger's trim panel went down (secures TCC curcuit and others). After reinstalling new fuse everything looked OK first but tranny began to slip (revs 3-4 kRPM) from (especially) a cold start, shift smoothly, quicker if I release accel.pedal.

Could it be bad solenoids (TCC and/or 1-2) or rather worn converter ?

      RE: re

its not a solonoid problem, its not wiring, its not your torque converter. if its slipping when cold, its hard seal. rubber goes hard over time, and when seals go hard, they allow oil to flow by them. when the tranny warms up, the metal has all expanded and has less clearance, therfore the seals are back to sealing again.

the fix, you need an overhaul. when its slipping, you are burning the clutches up. you will end up burning the clutches out so it slips all the time, then eventualy doesnt move.

Thx,Sharkey. Already (nearly) repaired. It was faulty pressure regulator valve. But after re-assembly tranny begun to spread the fluid all over-from between engine and converter housing.I hope its only oring or sth. Ca. 2 L every 5-6 km.
I hope its not the converter itself...F.....ck!

Additionally there is a little shudder when starting on Reverse and this also annoys me..surely(and unfortunately) the solenoids are ok.

well, if its leaking out the bellhousing, its likley the front seal in the tranny.
