I am swapping a 5 speed Getrag MG-282 transmission into my 1988 Chevy Celebrity Eurosport 4 door sedan. Right now it has a 4 speed automatic GX3 3.33 tranmission with factory floor shifter. I got the trans out of an 88 Chevy Beretta. However that is the only thing I can use out of that car. The Beretta uses a cable driven clutch, while the Abodys (celebrity and 6000) used Hydrallic. I could use cable driven in my eurosport, however I really like to use hydrallic. I was able to pickup an entire hydrallic clutch slave/master cylinder for my car. Now the tranmission brackets I can only use out of an 87-88 Celebrity or 6000, or 87-88 Fiero. However I can't find a donor. Shifter assembly would come out of an A-body (unless anyone knows I can use another GM setup?) Clutch/brake petal assembly would come out of a 4/5 speed A-body or 4 speed X-body (ex Citation). Now I know the 5 speed a-bodies have a switch that doesn't allow you to start the car without pushing the clutch petal, would I need to install this into my 88 eurosport? Its automatic so doesn't have this switch? The stuff above is what I know will work. Does anyone have any tips of what other cars I could use parts out of, or tips on installing this transmission. I was thinking of going with the Getrag MG-284, but will that work in my Eurosport? Also if anyone has any of those parts (THE TRANS BRACKETS) and are willing to sell them, please contact me.
